Reading Resources for Mindfuless, Self-Compassion and Well being

I am going to keep a list of my favorite and most recommended reads here. If you don’t have time to sit and read many are also available on audiobook for listening to on commutes or during exercise. I will continue to update this page over time so subscribe if you want more.

  • Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff is a must read for learning to create more connection and empathy for yourself and others. She relates the material in tangible ways that are also backed by solid research.
  • I am a huge Brene Brown fan girl, so any of her books are great. The way she helps open up well researched dialogue around vulnerability and shame is kind, courageous and inspiring. Daring Greatly and The Gifts of Imperfection are the ones I most often recommend.
  • Rick Hanson is another one I follow closely. He is great if you like to learn how the brain works and how you can directly work with it in day to day practices to create health and happiness. Hardwiring Happiness and Buddha’s Brain are excellent.
  • If you are interested in Buddhism at all or more of the origins of mindfulness and meditation then Pema Chodron is my favorite. She is able to relate deep material on acceptance, compassion and mindfulness in a humorous and down to earth way. Start Where You Are and The Wisdom of No Escape are classics.
